Born out of the Payette’s winning submission for the 2019 AIA Firm Award, Fusion: The Performance of Architecture (Monacelli Press, 2020) examines the combination of design and performance and the process by which the firm creates building as beautiful as they are sustainable.
My scope of work was ownership over the largest single section of Fusion: a collection of floor plans for 118 projects across the firm’s history, called Fingerprints. All drawn at same scale and to the same set of graphic standards, the Fingerprints serve as a record of Payette’s legacy and allow the reader to easily compare program types across projects and survey the firm’s history. The largest Fingerprint encompasses an entire spread; the smallest is a single room. All are meticulously grouped and catalogued.
The Fingerprints, as well as site plans for each case study project and other graphics throughout Fusion, were built from drawings and graphic standards developed for the new payette.com.
